COMMON MISTAKES MADE WITH SOCIAL ADVERTISING

Whether you’re looking into Facebook advertising or PPC, it’s important to implement the proper digital strategy in order to achieve success. However, part of finding success with social advertising is knowing what mistakes to clearly avoid.

Looking to increase your return on investment (ROI)? If so, social advertising are the way to go!

HIGH INVESTMENT, LITTLE TESTING

To begin, it’s important that you recognize that testing and monitoring are HUGE parts in the social ad process. Often times people get so caught up in the excitement of ad creation that they go all in in the very beginning. We advise against this, and here’s why.

By failing to split test you ads, you never really have a clear understanding of what’s working and what isn’t. Sure, you can watch your ROAS rise or fall, but don’t you want to know what works and what doesn’t before going all in?

Our advice is budget carefully. Too little money and your ad won’t be shown, too much and you could lose out. Create a couple of different campaigns and ads to split your money into. Then, watch where success follows. Remember to give your ad a couple of days to surpass the learning phase, as this won’t show an accurate representation of where your ad falls.

IGNORING NEGATIVE COMMENTS

In addition to putting in too much money with lack of testing, ignoring negative comments will hurt you greatly when it comes to social ads.

Ever read a bad review for a product you thought you wanted? It changed your opinion, right? Enough negative comments on your social posts will have the same effect.

Ideally, your comments should be managed by a software. This way, if things do pop up, the virtual assistant will detect it right away. If you’re a big name brand, you can afford to miss these marks out of human error.

Luckily for you, there are many options. You can choose to reply or delete depending on the severity of the statement made.

WEAK CALL TO ACTION

Last but not least, having a weak or NO call to action (CTA) is a common, but deadly mistake.

The goal of social ads is to spur action. Without a clearly stated CTA, you run the risk of losing that sale or customer interest.

Make sure you get your ads get reviewed by others before hitting submit. Ask them if they clearly understood what is being sold in your statement.

Are you encouraging people to sign up? Purchase? Learn more? Whatever the case may be, make it known from the start.

CONCLUSION

To summarize, creating a compelling social ad strategy is not as hard as you may assume. It’s equally important to know what NOT to do, as it is to know what you should do.

We hope moving forward, you’ll take time to clearly test your advertisements, take care of negative commentary, and create strong call to actions.
